On May 2 (Japan time May 3), at Times Square in New York, the WBO World Super Lightweight Title Unification Bout took place as part of the “Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves” event, co-promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and Matchroom Boxing.

Teofimo Lopez (USA, 21 wins, 13 KOs, 1 loss), the reigning champion, faced Arnold Barboza Jr. (USA, interim champion, 32 wins, 11 KOs). Lopez ultimately won the bout by decision.

Round 1: Both fighters exchanged jabs and occasionally traded quick combinations in a relatively calm opening.
Round 2: Lopez applied pressure with varied right straights to the head and body, while Barboza Jr. countered with a right hand followed by a left straight.
Round 3: Barboza Jr. adopted a deep stance at range, while Lopez used agile footwork to search for openings, looking to launch his right straight.

Round 4: Lopez’s right straight and Barboza Jr.’s right hand led to exchanges, with Barboza Jr. adding a left hook.
Round 5: Lopez launched quick one-two combinations on the attack, while the counterpunching Barboza Jr. refrained from initiating offense.
Round 6: Both fighters cautiously probed for openings. Barboza Jr. landed a right straight as a counter against Lopez.

Round 7: Lopez stepped in with a right uppercut and a left hook to the body. Barboza Jr. continued to focus on countering with his right hand but threw few punches overall.
Round 8: Both fighters maintained distance, searching for openings. Lopez had the advantage in punch volume.
Round 9: Barboza Jr. increased his pressure, but Lopez used agile footwork to disrupt his rhythm, landing right straights to both the head and body.

Round 10: Barboza Jr. attempted to attack with jabs and one-two combinations, but Lopez evaded using lateral movement and responded with right straights and left hooks.
Round 11: Lopez continued to use unpredictable footwork to neutralize Barboza Jr.’s offense, landing right straights to both the head and body.

Final Round: Barboza Jr. launched a frontal attack but struggled to land clean shots on Lopez. Lopez moved freely around the ring, effectively landing right straights and maintaining control until the final bell.
The official scores were 118-110, 116-112, and 116-112 in favor of Lopez.
Although the bout lacked major highlights, Lopez successfully unified the WBO title.

The undisputed heavyweight title fight between WBO, WBC, and WBA Super world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (Ukraine) — 23 wins (14 KOs), undefeated — and IBF world heavyweight mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois (UK) — 22 wins (21 KOs), 2 losses — has been officially announced by Queensberry Promotions. The bout will take place on July 19 (July 20 Japan time) at Wembley Stadium in London. The event will be broadcast on DAZN. The two fighters will meet again for the first time since their previous clash on August 26, 2023 (August 27 Japan time) at the Tarczynski Arena in Wroclaw, Poland. In their first encounter, Usyk secured a KO victory at 48 seconds of the ninth round. However, in the fifth round, Dubois landed a right body uppercut that sent Usyk to the canvas.
