Former WBC Interim Lightweight Champion and current No. 3 ranked contender Ryan Garcia (USA, 24 wins, 20 KOs, 1 loss, 1 no contest) faced former WBA Interim Lightweight Champion and former WBA Super Lightweight Champion Rolando Romero (USA, 16 wins, 13 KOs, 2 losses), who is currently ranked No. 2. Romero ultimately won the bout by decision.

In the first round, both fighters engaged in a feeling-out process with jabs, with Garcia’s quick jab showing good range.
Early in the second round, Romero quickly closed the distance and landed a perfectly timed left hook, knocking Garcia down. Garcia rose quickly, successfully neutralized Romero’s follow-up attacks, and regained his rhythm.

In the fourth round, Romero targeted Garcia’s body with jabs. Garcia remained cautious, continuing to throw jabs while waiting for an opening to land his right hand.

In the fifth round, both fighters continued exchanging jabs and attempted to follow up with right hands. Both maintained a high level of caution, resulting in a tense, tactical exchange.
In the sixth round, Romero applied pressure, seeking chances to follow his jab with a left hook. Garcia kept jabbing but threw relatively few punches.
