Devin Haney (USA), a two-division world champion currently ranked No. 1 by the WBC and No. 4 by the WBA at welterweight, with a record of 31 wins (15 KOs), no losses, and 1 no contest, faced José Carlos Ramírez (USA), a former WBO and WBC super lightweight world champion. Ramírez is currently ranked No. 5 by the WBA at welterweight, No. 8 by the WBC at super lightweight, No. 9 by the WBO, and No. 12 by the IBF. Haney won the bout by decision.

Round 1: Ramírez applied pressure while Haney moved nimbly around the ring. Both fighters threw few punches as they assessed each other.
Round 2: Ramírez continued to press but threw few punches. Haney moved well, landing jabs and a one-two combination.
Round 3: Ramírez struggled to keep up with Haney’s footwork. Haney landed quick jabs followed by a clean one-two combination.

Round 4: Haney moved fluidly from side to side, preventing Ramírez from locking onto a target, and countered with a right straight.

Round 6: Haney used his fast footwork to deliver jabs, one-two combinations, followed by a left hook, and landed a right straight to Ramírez’s body.
Round 7: Ramírez slowly pressed forward but rarely threw punches. Haney kept moving and landed jabs, countering Ramírez’s attempts with a sharp left hook.

Round 8: Haney focused on jabs and continuous movement, landing another one-two combination, while Ramírez’s right hand consistently missed the target.
Round 9: Ramírez threw very few punches, and Haney, while not launching an aggressive attack, maintained control in a low-action round.

Final Round: Despite needing a bold offensive push, Ramírez did not change his pace. Every time he tried to throw punches, Haney was already out of range. Haney continued to use movement and evasion, never launching any damaging offense against Ramírez. The bout ended with the judges scoring it 119-109, 119-109, and 118-108 in favor of Haney.

From start to finish, Ramírez was largely ineffective, while Haney maintained a cautious strategy throughout. Neither fighter landed significant damaging blows, and the fight lacked major highlights. Haney’s performance at welterweight will be evaluated in future bouts. As for Ramírez, who has now suffered consecutive losses, he sustained no obvious damage but, as in his previous fight, displayed a lack of activity, leaving his future uncertain.
