诺尼托·多奈尔在WBA最新排名中位列雏量级第5・Nonito Donaire is ranked No. 5 in the bantamweight division in the latest WBA rankings.

 

在4月30日（日本时间5月1日）由WBA公布的最新排名中，曾五度夺得世界冠军（含临时冠军）的诺尼托·多奈尔（菲律宾）＝42胜（28次KO）8负＝尽管已经长时间未参赛，仍被列入雏量级第5位。

现年42岁的多奈尔上一次比赛是在2023年7月29日（日本时间30日），于美国拉斯维加斯T-Mobile竞技场举行的WBC世界雏量级金腰带决定战，当时他以12回合判定败给了亚历山德罗·圣地亚哥（墨西哥）＝28胜（14次KO）5负5平，自那场比赛后就未再登台。不过，他曾参加过WBA大会，并在会上申请进入排名。

目前WBA世界雏量级的冠军是堤圣也（角海老宝石）＝12胜（8次KO）不败3平＝，他将在6月8日（星期日）于东京有明竞技场与同级临时冠军安东尼奥·巴尔加斯（美国）＝19胜（11次KO）1负1无效赛＝进行WBA统一战。

In the latest rankings released by the WBA on April 30 (Japan time May 1), Nonito Donaire (Philippines, 42 wins, 28 KOs, 8 losses), a five-time world champion (including interim titles), was ranked No. 5 in the bantamweight division despite having been inactive for an extended period.

The 42-year-old Donaire last fought on July 29, 2023 (Japan time July 30) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, USA, in a bout for the vacant WBC bantamweight title, where he lost by decision after 12 rounds to Alejandro Santiago (Mexico, 28 wins, 14 KOs, 5 losses, 5 draws). He has not returned to the ring since that fight. However, he attended a WBA convention and formally requested to be included in the rankings.

The current WBA bantamweight world champion is Seiya Tsutsumi (Kadoebi Jewel Gym, 12 wins, 8 KOs, no losses, 3 draws). He is scheduled to face interim champion Antonio Vargas (USA, 19 wins, 11 KOs, 1 loss, 1 no contest) in a WBA title unification bout on Sunday, June 8 at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo.

Tenshin Nasukawa (Teiken Gym, 6 wins, 2 KOs) holds the No. 2 position, followed by Daigo Higa (Shisei Gym, 21 wins, 19 KOs, 3 losses, 2 draws) at No. 3, and Takuma Inoue (Ohashi Gym, 20 wins, 5 KOs, 2 losses) at No. 4. Nonito Donaire is ranked just behind these top Japanese contenders. His entry into the rankings is likely connected to potential future matchups against these highly ranked Japanese fighters, though specific plans remain to be seen.

At the 2024 Japanese Professional Boxing Annual Awards Ceremony held on March 31, undisputed super bantamweight world champion Naoya Inoue (Ohashi Gym), who won the Best Fighter Award for the seventh consecutive year and eighth time overall, suddenly issued a challenge to WBC bantamweight champion Junto Nakatani (M.T Gym) while on stage. Smiling, he said, “Nakatani-kun, let’s heat up Japanese boxing together at the Tokyo Dome one year from now!”

When Nakatani immediately responded with “Let’s do it!” news of this potential all-Japanese mega-fight quickly spread worldwide.
However, Donaire then turned to Nakatani and said, “Before you fight Inoue, fight me first!” He strongly expressed his desire to face Nakatani. The 42-year-old legendary fighter went further, publicly declaring, “I’m going to beat Nakatani, and then I’ll face Inoue.”
